Feb 28 - Touring the kibbutz

Today we toured some of the kibbutz which is nestled within the city of Zichron Ya'acov. The first house was purchased 47 years ago. First stop was the kindergarten which is the babies through age 3. Such wonderful loving care from moms and grandma's! The 3 year olds sang to us in 3 languages - Hebrew, German, and English! The next stop was the High School where they begin their day with lessons on the fear of God and love for Yeshua. There are both German and Jewish teachers. On to the factory!

The community came to the Land with a commission to bless Israel. This is the sign posted at the entrance to one of their factory buildings - written in Hebrew and English. 1 Mose is German for the 1st book of the Torah, the Old Testament, which would be Genesis or Bereshith. Genesis 12:3 is where God speaks to Abram telling him to leave his country and his father's household and go to the land He would show them. He tells Abram, "I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you." The hearts of the people we are hosted by are for our brother Yehudah. I am unable to describe to you the blessings that have been poured out on them from our loving Abba as a result of their faithfulness. They constantly give all the glory to the One who has given them this privelege of being in the Land to care for His people.

The factory's main product has been filtration systems for sealed rooms. They also make filters for the army's tanks as they move through the dusty desert. They are able to filter out 89% of the dust, keeping the tank functioning. I will have Cal write more on this soon. On to the farm!
The kibbutz owns about 50 cows which supplies them with milk, butter, yogurt, and cheese. They also butcher about 60 large animals a year to provide meat. Their kitchens are kosher (blessed by the rabbi) as everyone eats for free, including their Jewish employees, at the factory.

Thought you might like to catch a glimpse of their newest bull - his name is Jumbo and he stuck out from all the others!

There are have many fields and vineyards. Oranges are in season and Cal can tell you they are sweet and juicy! Our room has taken on the aroma of oranges! There are several greenhouses. This one houses cucumber plants. The plants will eventually follow the rope up several feet. We weren't able to visit all of the greenhouses because they have had much rain. This is a great blessing.

  1. B"H for the rain!! I've been praying all season! Amein and Amein! This is so beautiful to see. "You are eternally mighty, my Lord, the Revivifier of the dead are You; abundantly able to save, Who makes the wind blow and make the rain descend; Who sustains the living with kindness, revivifies the dead with abundant mercy, supports the fallen, heals the sick, relases the confined, and maintains His fiath to those asleep in the dust. Who is like You, O Master of mighty deeds, and who is comparable to You, O King Who causes death and restores life and makes salvation sprout!" Artscroll Women's Siddur

  2. Hi Cal and Ardelle,
It's me again! Just noticed the comment about the kitchens being blessed by the rabbi in or der for it to be kosher. You may want to clarify what that means. Being brought up catholic that implies some "magic wand waving" going on, when it really means he has thoroughly inspected it to make sure that nothing treif (unclean) comes in contact with any of the food or equipment. What a blessing to be there and not have to think about whether what you are eating is treif or not.
    Shalom, Leslie
