March 9 Golan Heights

It’s been such a joy living in community here in Zickron Ya’acov. I’ve heard it said more than once – it’s not about uniformity, it’s about unity. We all need to be directly connected to the head. I see it like the spokes of a wheel. Messiah is the middle of the wheel. We’re all connected through Him. Community is in the heart. We can get to it by laying down our lives. It was Yeshua’s desire that we become one (John 17).

Today we took a bus trip to the Golan. It is so beautiful there this time of year with everything lush and green after the spring rains (latter rains in Scripture). There was, however, much sand in the air from the Humsing winds – i.e. the winds from the Egyptian desert. Visibility was quite limited, but I hope you still enjoy the many pictures. The Golan is a high plateu. By law no Arabs are allowed to live on the Golan. It is a miracle that Israel was able to acquire this Land. When you travel here, you see why it is essential to be a part of the Land.

Upper Galilee
Beautiful olive grove

A park on Mt. Meron

View towards Lebanon

Northern Israel near the border of Lebanon

Beautiful trail near the top of Mt. Meron, 2nd highest mountain in Israel

A little hazy, but still beautiful

Enjoy the Land!

Spring Color!

An olive tree on an island!

Flowers on the Golan

Tzfat, the 2nd most religious city next to Jerusalem. The city is built spread out in order to cover as much land as possible.

The Land is so fruitful!

A boat trip on the Sea of Galilee

A view of the "valley of the shadow of death" from the Galilee

Anyone for walking on the water?

A demonstration of throwing out the nets

The rolling hills of the Golan. These hills will be completely barren as soon as the hot, dry summer comes into season.

Date palms

Onions on the Golan!

The community's factory on the Golan very near the Syrian border.

Irrigation...this could be a scene from Iowa.

Wheat field.

Beginning our journey down from the Golan heights

Hairpin turns and steep roads! Our bus driver did a fine job! We learned later that this was his first trip down these roads with a bus!

  1. Hoshea / Hosea 14
1 O Yisra'el, return to YHWH your Elohim, for you have stumbled by your crookedness.
2 Take words with you and return to YHWH. Say to Him, "Take away all crookedness, and accept what is good, and we render the bulls of our lips.
3 "Ashshur does not save us. We do not ride on horses, nor even again do we say to the work of our hands, 'Our mighty ones.' For the fatherless finds compassion in You."
4 "I shall heal their backsliding, I shall love them spontaneously, for My displeasure has turned away from him.
5 "I shall be like the dew to Yisra'el. He shall blossom like the lily, and cast our his roots like Lebanon.
6 "His branches shall spread, and his splendour shall be like an olive tree, and his fragrance like Lebanon.
7 "Those who dwell under his shadow shall return. They shall revive like grain, and blossom like the vine, and become as fragrant as the wine of Lebanon.
8 "What more has Ephrayim to do with idols? It is I who answer and look after him. I am like a green cypress tree, your fruit comes from Me."
9 Who is wise and understands these words, discerning and knows them? For the ways of YHWH are straight, and the righteous walk in them, but the transgressors stumble in them.

These pictures reminded me of this scripture.

  2. Thank you Ardelle and Cal, for these beautiful and awesome pictures. To be honest they look so refreshing and cool and a very fertile looking Land.

The fisherman just reminded me of Kepha/Peter when Yeshua said "Throw the nets over the right side of the boat, and you shall find." So they threw, and they were no longer able to draw it in because of the large number of fish. Yohanan / John 21:6

    Many blessings,
    Lyn
