March 2

Another day of the word being poured out on us. In the morning the brother spoke to us about how the Father does not judge according to outward appearances, but according to the heart and according to the Word which He has spoken. The Word tells us that we should be perfect as He is perfect. How can this be? We are small and He is the living and eternal Father. Yet this is the desire and the longing of the Almighty God. Because He has asked for this, we ask Him to transform us and make us perfect.

In the afternoon a few of us went to visit a dear friend, Sister Rina. Sister Rina lives in the Priest’s home. It was a joy to sit and visit with her and hear her testimony. Her room is filled with reference books galore. She speaks 6 or 7 languages and was a teacher here for many years. She is Jewish and her father was an ardent Zionist from Poland who immigrated to Israel before WWII. She credits this move to saving their lives.

Rina herself was an atheist until she went to a Christian school in Israel because the curriculum was better. There she became friends with an Arab Christian who led her to God. Still she describes herself as being stuck in the Jewish religion. She became involved with a kibbutz to rebuild the country as a young lady. She was engaged to a commander of the Hagganah. At the kibbutz she took up the art of evaluating handwriting. This is what she was doing one day when she read a letter from a Jewish believer. She found the Messiah!

Her fiancé was not happy and he ripped the Brit Chadasha (New Testament) from her Bible. She ran away to Jerusalem. That was where we had to end the story for it was meal time. To be continued. What a precious soul, our sister Rina!

Another brother spoke after supper. He spoke on the concept of holiness being that which belongs to God. Israel is holy for they belong to Him. They must not mix themselves with Egypt, but leave the old behind in the same way the people left on the exodus.

We were so blessed with another evening visit to a family of the community. This family has 6 beautiful daughters and one son who just became engaged. The night turned into a night of singing and praise and I heard one of the most beautiful songs I’ve ever heard. I will share the words with you when I get a copy. The words by themselves are so inspiring. I can’t remember ever being in a community home that didn’t have a piano.

  1. Yes, we were talking about holiness meaning to be set apart. That we are! Our lives are not mainstream esp. on Shabbat. That is the holiness of Shabbat--to be set apart from the world that does not enter into it.
    Shalom, Leslie
